About this Course

Learn how to identify and repurpose common invasive plants as tools for art-making! Create a pencil from start to finish in this hands-on workshop. Participants will be led through the process of creating charcoal from European Mountain Ash and shaping the pencil casing with Himalayan Blackberry canes. By the end of the session, pencils will be used to draw Richmond's natural landscapes. Supplies included for making one pencil per participant. Tools and protective equipment provided. Adult participants will use knives for whittling. Adult participation required.
