About this Class

Learn the fundamental technique of creating ink from plant materials in this hands-on session that starts with a short walking tour of Terra Nova Rural Park to identify indigenous and invasive plants found in the Lower Mainland. Wear weather-specific shoes and clothes and bring flowers specimens such as roses, elderberry leaf, willow stem and salmon berries or food scrap materials such as beets, onion skins, blueberries and spinach. Avoid bringing acidic materials such as cedar, pine, yew, coffee and citrus. In addition, bring a pruning tool or scissors and small glass or plastic jars to take home plant-based ink. Pre-requisite: 15+ years due to the equipment and tools used (electric burners and pruners). Registration required.
